Introduction to Mantra: A 5-Week Journey

Every Saturday  |  September 21 - October 18, 2024  |  2:30 - 4:00 PM

What is Introduction to Mantra?

There comes a time when practicing postures meets the needs of the physical body but not of the whole self.

Once you understand how your body responds to asana a natural curiosity arises to go deeper. The question about how yoga can support our mental, emotional, and spiritual lives develops.

The next deepening of any yoga practice starts with embracing it as a complete life system that has guideposts that beckon you forward to make small changes in your daily life.

Have you ever wondered about the potential of sound to transform your mind and body? Mantra, an ancient practice rooted in Sanskrit, offers a profound way to harness the power of vibration for personal growth and well-being.

In this 5-week program, we invite you to embark on a journey of self-discovery through the exploration of mantra. Drawing on the wisdom of Thomas Ashley-Farrand's acclaimed audiobook, "Mantra: Sacred Words of Power," we will delve into the rich history, philosophy, and practical application of this transformative tool.

No prior experience with yoga or meditation is required. This program is open to all seekers, regardless of their spiritual background.

Jordan's Personal Journey With Mantra

Burning Wheel Yoga School Owner,  Intro to Mantra Workshop Instructor

Music has always been the love of my life. Music is always there for me, even when no one else is. It started with my grandfather teaching me to play the saxophone when it was still taller than me! In my adolescence, I would spend hours in my room listening to music and memorizing the lyrics so that I could sing along. By the time I was a teenager, I taught myself to play guitar and started a band with some of my friends that persisted through high school. I went to college to study sound engineering and started a recording studio. I produced hip-hop and EDM and taught myself to DJ.

Like most aspects of yoga, I was initially resistant to mantra practice. Eventually, I began experimenting with mantra on my own, and now I can say it is one of the fundamental pillars of my yoga practice. I love learning to form sounds with my lips, tongue, and throat. It’s like doing yoga asana (postures) with your mouth!

Using mantra in my daily observance is a private practice, so sharing it feels like a vulnerable opening of my personal routine. I feel a beautiful resonance between the teaching and joined voices in the class setting. When we chant together we make magic! I can’t wait to show you how to use Sanskrit mantra to enhance the quality of your life experience!
